Internet Use Policy

The Library endeavors to provide its patrons with the opportunity to use current technology and resources. The library recognizes the Internet as a valuable information resource. Illegal activities or innappropriate (eg. pornography) use of the computers will result in denial of access in the future. Our Internet Use Policy places the responsibility for information access to the Internet on the patron. We will not be held responsible for the content or the accuracy of information to patrons. As with other library material, restriction of a child's access is the responsibility of the parent/legal guardian. Copying information from the Internet may be in violation of copyright laws and doing so is at the discretion of the patron. Fees will be assessed by the Library for this service. The Fort Nelson Public Library has also adopted the Canadian Library Association's Statement on Intellectual Freedom. Internet Use Rules and Procedures


The following rules state our acceptable use policy regarding Internet access.

You must be 16 years of age or have a consent form signed by parent or guardian. Children under 12 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian.

Appointments will be forfeited if not utilized within five minutes of the start time.

As a courtesy to others, please phone to cancel appointments in advance.

The patron who logs in is responsible for events that occur during the logged in session.

These computers are intended to access the Internet with the software provide. At no time is it appropriate to use your own software. To do so will result in suspension of computer privileges.

Changing any configuration on the computer is prohibited.

At no time is it permissible to use external devices or disks.

A cost of 25 cents per paged will be levied or $1.00 per page for a color printout. Patrons will be assessed this charge for any printing, even if done in ignorance of this policy.

The library reserves the right to restrict use of computers for any infringement or violation of library rules.
